Page history last edited by Michael Grasso 14 years ago

Scene 1: Crafting the Creche, Leaving for Moldavia

Matthieu designs and crafts the iron creche for the Egg to hatch inside the ovens. Salih makes tokens for Ernst and Lóránt and their journey to Moldavia. (0 - 11)

Scene 2: Blahel

Matthieu meets Blahel, the keeper of the stoves. We see the foundry building for the first time. Matthieu asks him about using the stoves for the emperor's Egg. Blahel is evasive but he eventually relents and lets the cabal come to the foundry at night. (11 - 23)

Scene 3: Arrival at Cacthice

Ernst and Lóránt arrive at Cacthice. Lady Bathoryova is helpful and kind and a genial host. Lóránt discovers she is learned, with an astronomical lab and a library and acts deferential to her knowledge. (23 - 34)

Scene 4: A Night in the Foundry

Salih and Santiago come to Prague and meet with Matthieu. The three Mages go to the foundry that evening. Santiago and Matthieu prepare and/or cast their spells to monitor the Egg and to intensify the heat to the maximum safe level while Salih acts as a genial distraction to Blahel. Blahel notices the stoking of the flames. (34 - 48)

Scene 5: Dinner and Nightfall

The guests finish dinner and Lóránt has an assignation with one of Erzabet's serving-girls, who asks him to deflower her. Her evasiveness and odd insistence set off alarm bells with Lóránt. Meanwhile, Ernst sees a strange shadow around a castle cat and tries to capture it. (48 - 64)

Scene 6: Hatching

Amidst the bright light of the stoked fires, the Salamander stirs. Blahel worries about the furnace's ability to stay intact under great heat. The Salamander hatches, and the creature's yolk is a purple substance which seems to be a perfect fire-containing substance. Salih quiets Blahel with a stern word and Matthieu gets him to retrieve a crucible to contain the fuel.. and he aids Santiago in retrieving the substance with Forces. Blahel does see the creature. (64 - 81)

Scene 7: Cats' Eyes

Lóránt helps Ernst try to catch the cat. They take it to Ernst's room and he bars the door and shoves his cloak under the door. Ernst says the cat was spying on him. Lóránt gets Yakov to guard the cat while they speak in the courtyard. Lóránt tells Ernst about the serving-girl and her frightened demand. (81 - 96)

Scene 8: Aftermath

Blahel's witnessing of the salamander leads Matthieu to want to alert the Emperor. Blahel leaves to alert him. Santiago activates Mage Sight (Prime) while Matthieu brings the goo back to his office. Salih examines the salamander and notes it seems to be happy but confined. The Emperor witnesses the Salamander with wide wonder and wants to keep it shut from witnesses. Matthieu wants to find out its minimum comfortable level of heat. The cabal speaks of Blahel and what he might be since he did not induce any Quiescence by looking at the salamander. Matthieu thinks perhaps he could be put into a Labyrinth to keep the salamander safe. (96 - 120)

Scene 9: Breakfast

Ernst and Lóránt decide to refuse Erzabet's hospitality and leave after breakfast. Lóránt finds out Erzabet is an anti-Semite as she finds out he is a Jew. (120 - 132)

Scene 10: Investigation

Santiago goes to Benatky to talk to Tycho about his ship; further investigation of the ley lines around the manor leads him to the swamps where he finds the Devil's Column. Salih finds Blahel, talks to him, and analyzes his aura as best he can. He sees flares in his aura that indicate some sort of power. Matthieu has designed a Labyrinth which he brings to Makovsky; Makovsky is impressed and shows Matthieu the tablet Santiago brought him. There is small information on the history of the item. (132 - 161)

Scene 11: Departure

Before departing, Lóránt catches sight of a large bronze tub, covered in occult runes. Ernst finds the girl who served him last night has been "dismissed from the lady's service." Lóránt's theory is that she is bathing in virgin's blood... (161 - 163)
