Scene 1: A Ride To The Front
Ernst and Lóránt arrive at Prince Michael's army beseiging the Poles. Ernst begins to see and hear signs of the Blood of Christ among the dead and dying of the Wallachians. (0 - 13)
Scene 2: The Morning After
Matthieu and Salih talk about Blahel. Salih says Blahel is some sort of supernatural being. Matthieu goes to investigate him, and find out if the foundry workers have asked any questions about the furnace. Matthieu also goes to Ludovic to get an appointment with the Emperor. (13 - 28)
Scene 3: Forsaken
Ernst gives a dying soldier "last rites" after seeing the signs of Christ in him. Into the city, Ernst and Lóránt make their way to the Prince's "court." They meet Sir Antony, an Order of the Dragon knight, who tells them they'll accompany the army to Khotim. (28 - 38)
Scene 4: Lost in Translation
Salih receives a visit in his apartments from a Father Wilhelm with a series of documents for Salih to translate from Arabic. They are schematics for a bunch of machines. (38 - 46)
Scene 5: Carriage Ride
The army moves north to the last bastion of the Poles, Khotim. Ernst keeps hallucinating, this time seeing an eagle in the sky, and a scorpion in his boot. Lóránt ventures a guess that there is astrological significance to these portents. (46 - 59)
Scene 6: Labyrinth
Matthieu goes to Makovsky to speak of his new Labyrinth for the Salamander. There is no pre-existing Labyrinth for Matthieu to take advantage of. (59 - 72)
Scene 7: Khotim
Ernst sees a great wood outside Khotim, where the eagle flew to. Lóránt cannot calm him. In the camp they seek out Sir Antony during the setup of the siege of Khotim. During Michael's speech Ernst sees a vision of the Holy Ghost around the Emperor. (72 - 83)
Scene 8: The Devil's Column/Information
Santiago has been examining the column and discovers it is a ley line marker. He comes to Prague to let the cabal know about it. Santiago tells the cabal of the ley line marker. Matthieu mentions that they could explore the lands of the dead around the column to see the origins of it. Salih tells the cabal of the machine translation. (83 - 104)
Scene 9: The Forest and The Inn
At the inn, Ernst and Lóránt are met by Corneliu who acts very accommodating to the men. He says he could help them meet Prince Michael. Ernst is suspicious, but Lóránt seems to discover that Corneliu is awaiting a password of some kind... he takes the letter from Z and says Lóránt should come with him. (104 - 124)
Scene 10: The Schematic
Matthieu examines the schematic and is not able to glean much more information; they are incomplete instructions, sub-systems of a clock, gears, a typesetting set, and a blood-measuring device. Matthieu is suspicious, but Salih believes nothing is out of sorts. There is also a discussion of the rosewood tablet from New Guinea. (124 - 135)
Scene 11: Night Ride
Corneliu speeds off into the forest with supernatural speed, Lóránt follows as best he can with the help of Salih's bracelet. Ernst goes to his room and lying on his bed is a lion. "Come with me and ye shall be as fishers of men." The lion leads him into the forest out his bedroom window. Lóránt's journey ends in a clearing with a solar disc and a cave. In the cave is a lair with a lab and a library. (135 - 144)
Scene 12: The Tablet
The cabal examines it. Not a lot of Death on it, but Salih is able to see a distant past when it was being carved, a copy of a much older, Atlantean oricalcum tablet. The tablet itself came from an older cataclysm and the refugees thereof. (144 - 157)
Scene 13: Awakening
Ernst follows the lion. The eagle is also there, and the man and the ox. He sees himself as a young man, at the Siege of Tunis. (157 - 162)
Scene 14: The Cave of Zalmoxis
Zalmoxis and Lóránt speak. Zalmoxis tells of his life, being older that the Order of the Dragon, having existed since the time of Pythagoras. He seems indifferent to the Ordo and its aims but interested in what they research. Zalmoxis says Lóránt is a message from Z. Zalmoxis makes an elixir while he talks with Lóránt and then offers him his Vitae. (162 - 174)
Scene 15: Agendas
Salih is going to remain in Prague waiting for Wilhelm. Santiago and Matthieu are going to walk in the lands of the dead near the Devil's Column. (174 - 176)
Scene 16: The Siege
Ernst leads his men into the maw of the Ottoman assault. Miguel, Ernst's man-at-arms, helps him in this fight, but says "only you can go into the Tower." He does so, signs his name in the Stone Book, and is surrounded by Polish soldiers in one of the towers of Khotim. (176 - 186)
