Session 12

Page history last edited by Michael Grasso 14 years ago

Scene 1: Dawn

Lóránt returns from Zalmoxis's, Yakov tells him Ernst is missing. The innkeeper, a former soldier, wonders if he went to the lines. (0-6)

Scene 2: Gate

Matthieu opens a gate to Twilight with Santiago near the Devil's Column. The Column is not present in Twilight. They find a village full of ghosts on the site of Benatky, and scout it out. (6-19)

Scene 3: Payment

Salih receives Father Wilhelm. He has read the document using Time magic and divined its age. Wilhelm compliments him, and seems to Salih to be ambitious. Salih offers to teach him Arabic, he says he'll pray on it. Salih reads the Resonance of the documents after Wilhelm has touched them and senses their path to him has been... circuitous and chaotic. (19-30)

Scene 4: Tower

Ernst awakes with two Polish mercenaries before him. He is taken to the dungeons and locked up. (30-38)

Scene 5: Rescue

Lóránt goes to the front lines of the siege at Khotim. Lóránt discusses the situation with a soldier on the way, then canvasses the troops in Michael's camp. They saw him scale the city wall alone, unnoticed by the Polish sentries. (38-45)

Scene 6: Coin

Santiago finds a coin, thought to be from the Roman era. They then are surrounded by ghosts from the village. (45-50)

Scene 7: Coins

Salih examines the money, finds it to be newly minted thalers, probably straight from the Papacy. (50-59)

Scene 8: Strength

Ernst summons strength from the Blood of Christ, and struggles mightily against his chains, and after three attempts does succeed. He sends his senses out to detect life. (59-67)

Scene 9: Parley

Lóránt hides his sword on him using his new abilities. He waits as an officer, Ilyich, an aide to Ieremia Moliva, is summoned and goes into the city asking for Ernst. (67-76)

Scene 10: Spearpoint

Santiago and Matthieu meet the villagers; Santiago identifies them as non-Roman, or barbarian, speaking an unknown tongue. Matthieu tries languages, then uses magic to communicate. Santiago drops the coin behind his back. The men are suspicious and tell them to drop weapons and are amazed at the craftsmanship of Santiago's sword ("it's one of his"). Matthieu tries to command them. This leads to combat. Matthieu then tries to destroy their weapons, but it leads to Paradox; a feeling of superiority. (76-92)

Scene 11: Occultation

Salih follows the spatial thread of the money after finding it was handled by a woman. He has to fight through some sort of Occultation to do so. He theorizes he is either naturally occulted or enveloped in another's. (92-97)

Scene 12: Escape

Ernst, sensing life around him and with Perfect Timing, tries to escape. Lóránt meets Ieremiah and Sigismund Bathory. The two men seem beleaguered. Lóránt asks them about Ernst but find no report of incursion by the troops. In the tower, Ernst retrieves his stuff. (97-111)

Scene 13: Lordship

Matthieu sculpts ephemera to imprison the leader of the men. The leader reveals he believes them servants of Veles. (111-118)

Scene 14: Clockwork

Outside the Clementinium, Salih shifts the odds to find a clue about the situation and sees a wagon full of supplies from the Clockmakers' Guild go in. (118-125)

Scene 15: Freedom

Lóránt sees Ernst with his manacles and his sword held up in victory. Ernst tells the soldiers and Ilyich of his imprisonment. Back with Ieremiah and Bathory, Lóránt convinces Illyich that their army is in shambles. Sets up a dinner meeting. (125-135)

Scene 16: Gods

Matthieu tries to convince the men that they are not servants of Veles. They cite that they can be cleansed with rituals and offerings to Perun. (135-141)

Scene 17: Home

Perun tells Makovsky that the Emperor wants Tycho in Prague full-time. Which means Benatky will be empty soon. Perun wanted to warn Salih of this. Salih says he'll try to strengthen it while the astronomers are there. Perun asks about the Hallow; Salih says they're doing it as we speak. Perun says the energy may need to come from a different source. (141-146)

Scene 18: Meeting

Ernst and Lóránt talk about the events of the previous evening. Explains the symbols of the four fixed signs. (146-151)

Scene 19: Duality

Matthieu and Santiago hear of the dual relationship between Perun and Veles. Matthieu releases the man and Santiago lights his sword on fire to prove they're not of Veles. They see the signs on the huts. In the real world, Salih rides to Benatky, visits Tycho. The ghosts tell the mages Veles comes at night. Santiago reads matrices and finds the energy of the Veles entity (earth and water) resides directly underneath Benatky, to the east of the village. Santiago also sees Salih's aura. Matthieu bestows Grim Sight on Salih, and as Salih walks down the stairs he all of a sudden sees ghosts, everywhere. (151-169)

Scene 20: Dinner

Ernst and Lóránt meet Ieremiah and his family. Bathory is furious and asks what the Emperor has ever done for him. Ernst plays bad cop, Lóránt plays it cool. Ieremiah says Bathory is an ally of convenience. Ernst and Lóránt very delicately manage to negotiate a surrender of Khotim over the period of a few weeks in May, to avoid Ieremiah losing face. Lóránt proposes that there may ever be a place for him in Michael's kingdom. (169-184)

BENATKY: Santiago thinks that the Column was historically put there to divert the energy of earth and water from the village to save them from Veles. Matthieu wonders if there is a way to redirect both sets of energy to preserve the Hallow and protect the ghosts.

KHOTIM: Ieremiah agreed to retreat to Polish lands and leave the city after a suitable period of "resistance" thanks to Lóránt's cold analysis and Ernst's heartfelt plea as a former soldier. Sigismund Bathory refuses to accede.
